“I Deserve Justice”: Udit Narayan’s First Wife Alleges Uterus Removed Without Consent, Files Police Complaint

Veteran playback singer Udit Narayan is again at the centre of controversy after his first wife, Ranjana Jha, filed a formal complaint against him at the Women’s Police Station in Supaul, Bihar, on Tuesday. In the written complaint, Ranjana has made a series of serious allegations, the most shocking of which is that Udit Narayan, along with his family members, got her uterus removed without her knowledge or consent, under the guise of medical treatment.

Ranjana submitted the complaint in the presence of her lawyer, Karunakant Jha, accusing Udit Narayan, his two brothers Sanjay Kumar Jha and Lalit Narayan Jha, and his second wife, Deepa Narayan, of criminal conspiracy and other offences. She has claimed that she only discovered the surgery years later while undergoing treatment for unrelated health issues.

According to Ranjana’s account, the couple were married on December 7, 1984, in a traditional Hindu ceremony. A year later, she says Udit moved to Mumbai to pursue his singing career. During this time, she alleges, she learned through media reports that he had married Deepa Narayan, but that he repeatedly misled her when questioned.

Ranjana also detailed further hardships in her complaint, including being turned away when she visited Udit in Mumbai in 2006 and facing insults when she visited his in-laws in Nepal. She claims Udit made repeated promises of support, but never followed through.

Speaking to the media, Ranjana said, “You all know that Udit Narayan ji repeatedly makes promises but does not fulfil them… I deserve justice.” She added that despite Udit’s recent visits to her village and assurances, nothing has changed.

The officer-in-charge, Anju Tiwari, confirmed the complaint has been received and is being investigated, noting the incidents date back nearly 30 years. An FIR will be registered once verification is complete. So far, Udit Narayan has not issued a response to these allegations.
